EDIT: Yes, John, it does seem like these instances occur more. That said, I don't think it's the case. I think we live in a society today where more people speak up about such abuses than say 10, 20, or 30 years ago. Also, have you ever noticed that these news stories always start out, "A popular teacher at..."? Did the reporters ever think that the teacher may have been popular for some "bad" reason? For instance, I would think most high school boys would consider "popular" a hot blonde teacher coming straight out of college. They'd find her even more popular if she "liked high school boys." Ditto, for girls liking certain male teachers. What do you think?
