The Herald Sun reports that "[a]fter enduring a nearly three-year wait, James C. Dever may be one step closer to pounding the gavel in North Carolina's Eastern District Federal Court.
The Senate Judiciary Committee plans to vote on Dever's nomination for district judge Thursday. A committee spokesman said he expects the nomination to be approved.
Dever's name would then go to the Senate floor for final approval. North Carolina Sens. Richard Burr and Elizabeth Dole, both Republicans, said Tuesday they support Dever, currently a magistrate in the Eastern District."
Personally, I think we need more Carolina grads on the bench, but that's probably just the Tar Heel in me. Then again, Denver will be getting an Article III appointment and Duke only has three national championships, so I guess there is a certain symmetry in the situation.
