Mr. Gibson presents his case for why the lottery would be good for NC by countering some of the anti-lottery arguments. That said, he gives very short shrift to the anti-lottery arguments and doesn't really articulate the pro-lottery perspective with eloquence. His arguments all sound like "The lottery is good because." The lottery is divisive in North Carolina politics, especially within the GOP. (I would bet that if registered Republicans were asked their views in private, the numbers would shock the NCGOP leadership.) I see the arguments presented on both sides of the issue, and I don't intend to weigh in today, but I wish those who did weigh in would present strong, cohesive reasons.
